No somos héroes

The Malvinas War resulted in the deaths of 649 Argentines, the wounding of another 1,063, and undoubtedly precipitated the fall of the military dictatorship. But for the conscripts, nothing ended with surrender. For the first time, they tell their story: their military service, the war, the mistreatment, the hunger, the differences with the English, the humiliation, the return home, the indifference, the suicides. They fought not only against the enemy but also against their superiors. They were victims of the dictatorship and the war: and they claim that those who call themselves heroes are yesterday's oppressors.
