The Day I Look at the Ceiling
Set against the backdrop of late 1990s and turn-of-the-century Taiwan, The Day I Look at the Ceiling is an intimate, character-driven documentary. Born out of the gritty, hands-on filmmaking tradition of the Tainan National University of the Arts, it explores themes of everyday personal isolation, stagnation, and the psychological state of modern individuals trying to navigate their place in society. The title poetically reflects the vulnerable moments of stillness, boredom, or despair when a person is left alone with nothing to do but stare blankly at the ceiling.
