The invention of the bicycle allowed women to enter public space. Women’s “trousers of independence” made a brief, momentous appearance. But women who wore them were heavily criticized for their lack of femininity. By blending impressionistic iris shots with projections on women’s bodies, k.g. Guttman’s enigmatic short transfigures this history into a broader reflection on the regulation of women’s bodies.
